Prayer is not so we can tell God what to do.
Prayer is often not to change the situation but to change our heart in the situation.
The enemy is not idle. He throws lots of lies at you and tries to get you to nibble at one and believe, if even for a moment, that some issue is more important than 'loving God and loving people'.
We find fault with others to make ourselves feel better about our faults. We should take our faults to Jesus.
When we focus on our own goodness and we focus on what's wrong with others, we are choosing the road of the Pharisee.
